Product Description
Norton Woodsand abrasive sheets have natural garnet abrasive grit for a smooth finish when sanding bare wood in preparation for applying a finish.
Coated abrasives have individual abrasive grains spaced at a predetermined distance from one another. This is a closed-coat sheet. A closed coat covers 100 percent of the surface with abrasive grains, for more stiffness and better surface finish than an equivalent open coat, where abrasive grit covers 50 to 70 percent of the surface. The paper backing is flexible, and offers a more consistent finish than a cloth or fiber backing, while being thicker and more durable than a polyester film backing.
Garnet is a naturally mined abrasive material. It is best known for its use in some types of sandpaper, though it is also commonly used for sand blasting and water jet cutting. Garnet is suitable for use when finishing wood, as well as glass polishing and lapping.
